So you want to know what people actually say when critiquing
a manuscript? Look no further. Below are actual quotes taken
from UWG critiquing sessions. To protect the innocent, who
said what about whose story has been conveniently forgotten,
though I'll admit that all comments about run-on sentences are
about the webmistress.
UWG-Speak:
Nit: a minor issue.
Haggis: "the world would be a boring place if everyone loved haggis." Used when the critiquer strongly dislikes something in the manuscript, but recognizes that it's more of a personal preference than something actually wrong.
